Correcting a Mistake

A week ago, I met with my newest clients, the Pet Lovers Rescue in order to finalize the details of their business card. They also informed me that the cards in a week. Meaning the design to the printers (Vistaprint) that night.

In the rush, I ended up mistyping one of contact information. This wasn't realized until I received the cards from the printers. In an effort to correct this mistake, I took white return labels and with InDesign program, I spaced two set of contact info onto each label. I had thought about making the labels fade into the card, but the plain white and black ink looked just fine to the client.

Grandmother's Memorial Card

 Two months ago, my family received a phone call saying that my grandmother had past away in her sleep. With my mother mainly in charge of her funeral, I was trying to think of anything that I could do to help. In looking at what all needed to be done, I came across the one thing that only I could really do. Design my grandmother's memorial card. I did some research into what these cards tended to look like, then proceeded pull together imagery that suited my grandmother's life. The two types of flowers that I have running throughout the card, symbolize both my grandmother's birth month and the month that she died. I was happy to create one last thing for my grandmother using the skills that she helped fund.

Illusionist's Tools

Today, I decided to photograph some of the tools that magicians may use during their shows as part of this week's photo collection. Since I chose the hat from my Kaito Kid costume to be among the staples of this collection, I decided to use a black spandex and black bristol board as the background materials to really make the objects pop, especially the cards and the hat. Most of the items can be easily identified, but the coins have a special connection to Kaito Kid. That connection is that they are both from Japan. The coins are 1, 10 and 100 yen pieces which I was given to by Japanese tourists and are a small part of the foreign currencies I have collected, thanks to tourists. There is also one playing card that I had purposely placed on top of the hat,also has a connection to Kid. The Ace of Spades also known as the Ace of Swords, represents the start of a journey or battle as well as the champion of duels. And since Kid is always looking forward to being the victor in his mental duels against Kudo Shinichi (the protagonist of Detective Conan), it makes the perfect card to be on top of Kid's hat.
